In the 20-plus years since Susan G. Komen for the Cure started incorporating pink into its awareness campaigns, this is the first time that the girly advocacy color will be making its way to farmers’ fields. In its inaugural year, the Pink Pumpkin Patch Foundation has commissioned farmers across the country to grow feminine-hued pumpkins and donate 25 cents from each sale to organizations involved in breast cancer research.

September 26, 2012- Shark Saves Man's Life
DAILY MAIL-- A police officer told today how a shark guided him to a rescue boat after he had drifted helplessly in the Pacific Ocean for 15 weeks.
Mr Toakai Teitoi’s brother-in-law had perished from dehydration and the 41-year-old policeman knew it was only a matter of time before he, too, succumbed to the elements.
But he said today that two unexpected events led to his eventual rescue – a tropical downpour that provided him with drinking water and the extraordinary encounter with the shark.
Sadly, Teitoi's brother-in-law died after five weeks. Teitoi continued to live on provisions and water from rainfall. One day, while napping at sea, Teitoi awoke to something bumping his boat. When the man looked down, he realized a six-foot shark was circling his craft. Teitoi also noticed a boat in the distance and started waving frantically until the passengers spotted and rescued him.

Wrightsville Beach, N.C., August 3, 2012 –The 2nd Annual Aloha for Alopecia and Cancer Survivors Charity Surf Camp will take place on August 11, 2012 in Wrightsville Beach, N.C. WB Surf Camp organizes this unique, memorable, and free event to honor individuals and families living with alopecia or battling cancer. We are excited to be working this year with CAP, the Children’s Alopecia Project, a nonprofit that was created to help any child who is living with hair loss due to all forms of alopecia. July 25th- 3.7 magnitude earthquake strikes near LA
A shallow magnitude 3.7 earthquake was reported Wednesday morning two miles from Marina del Rey , according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 3:18 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 5.6 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was three miles from Culver City , four miles from El Segundo , five miles from Inglewood and 12 miles from Los Angeles Civic Center.
